The Tactra Malleable Implant is:31

  • Designed to feel natural for both partners during sex
  • Manually positioned for intercourse and concealment when not in use
How it Works

The Tactra Penile Implant consists of a pair of bendable cylinders that are made of two layers of silicone over a Nitinol (nickel titanium) core.31 The design of the Tactra Implant provides both natural feel and optimal rigidity and durability.31 When intercourse is desired, you lift up the device into a straight position for an erection.74 When you and your partner are done with sex, you manually push down your penis for a normal, flaccid appearance.74

The Procedure

The surgery for a penile implant typically takes about an hour.76 And, the procedure to place a penile prosthesis is usually done on an outpatient basis.74 The urologist makes a small incision above the pubic bone or in the scrotum to insert the device components. The penile implant surgery is performed under anesthesia. Recovery is relatively straightforward. You may experience some pain and tenderness near the incision. You should follow your doctor’s orders regarding post-implant procedure activity. Most physicians will instruct their patients to limit their routine to light activity for the first few days and refrain from lifting or exertion for the next month. Full healing will take four to six weeks, after which your doctor will clear you for sex.74

Risks

As with any medical procedure, complications can occur. Side effects include but are not limited to:75 natural or spontaneous erections as well as other interventional treatment options will no longer be possible; infection, in which case the implant may have to be removed; pain (typically associated with the healing process); mechanical failure of the implant.
